Innovative Smart Audio Platform Delivers Personalized Listening to Consumer and Business Audiences

Chicago, ILRivet Radio, the smart audio platform, announced today that its total funding now stands at $3.6 million. Rivet is supported by investors including The Associated Press, A. H. Belo Management Services, The IrishAngels, Ringleader Ventures, individual backers including Chicago venture capitalist Steve Miller, employees, family and friends.

“It’s a real privilege to be working with top investors who believe in our mission to deliver smart audio ubiquitously,” CEO John MacLeod said. “We’re using our resources to continually perfect our industry-leading smart audio solution – making it faster than ever to produce, package and play stories through our listening platforms and give all listeners a unique, tailored experience through the process.”

In 2015, Rivet was named by Chicago Innovation and Built in Chicago as a “Start Up to Watch.” Last year Apple named the Rivet Radio app a “Best in Bite-Sized News.” With continued growth, the funding announcement comes on the heels of their first international partnership supporting the company’s efforts to expand geo-targeted, local content worldwide.

Rivet Radio offers several solutions for listening to spoken word stories including iPhone and Android apps, desktop options, Rivet Auto and Rivet Enterprise. Rivet is powered by its proprietary smart audio platform, which works to treat audio as data enabling the distribution of perishable content to millions of listeners. Rivet expedites the news delivery process by meta-tagging audio stories enabling their delivery through multiple channels — to the right listeners in a personalized fashion.

The company is partnering with a growing list of companies including Bosch Automotive Technologies, Jaguar and Land Rover, OpenCar Inc., Abalta’s WEBLINK, and InterCall. Media partners include The Associated Press, American Public Media, and The Dallas Morning News.
