Today artificial intelligence is playing an important role in learning. As schools are becoming more technologically advanced artificial intelligence is making the impossible possible. A recent survey, “Artificial Intelligence Market in the US Education Sector 2017-2021,” states that the use of AI in K-12 and higher education could grow by 47.5 percent by 2021.

The 21st-century education is not just limited to classrooms but it has become a learning process that is more personalized and immersive for the students. They can collaborate with each other and enhance their skills at advanced levels.

Artificial Intelligence is making it possible for the educators to focus more on what a student needs to learn. The traditional teaching methods are changing and educators can now assess the strengths and weaknesses of the students and create customized study materials for them. Here are five ways the educators are using Artificial Intelligence to enhance the learning experience of the students:

Advanced personalized learning

This is an era of individualized teaching and learning. Students can now seek individualized assignment help from subject experts all over the world. Earlier, much focus was given to the curriculum. But today, a great attention is given to what students actually learn. Web-based learning platforms are designed that can assess what a student knows and then challenges the student with new concepts and study material. Hence, every student can now not only learn at their own pace but according to the level of understanding and prior knowledge.

The teaching systems have the capability to discover and eliminate the gaps in learning. These intelligent tutoring systems are based on mastery learning principles. They use advanced technologies to provide a personalized learning environment in real-time to the students. These systems allow teachers to gain a better understanding of how students are learning and how can they customize the curriculum to provide an advanced learning experience to the students.

Evolution of the classroom teaching techniques

As stated above, AI can detect the learning gaps so that the student can progress in a better way. For example, suppose a student is finding it difficult to solve questions related to fractions in mathematics. There can be a number of reasons for it such as lack of understanding of the concept of numerators and denominators or difficulty in doing multiplications and divisions. AI platforms can be used to determine such deficiencies by understanding the child’s abilities. Thinkster is one such platform that is being used by teachers in the New Jersey to bridge the learning apps.

Imagine, as a system can determine students abilities, it can also specify which student needs additional attention or who needs more challenging material. Whether it is math, literature, science, engineering, sociology, geography or essay assignment help, students will be able to learn and grow their capabilities with such artificially intelligent systems.

Enhanced Crowd-Sourced Tutoring

Many times students are looking for homework help so that they can clear their doubts about various subjects. With the rise of online services, students are now able to take help from the learned professionals and students all across the world. Artificial Intelligence has made this collaboration much easier and authentic. A social network platform called Brainly allows students to collaborate and learn together. Here students can facilitate learning by answering each other’s questions.

Brainly uses machine learning algorithms for performing content moderation, filtering low-quality content and spam. Artificial Intelligence algorithms are also used to ensure that the students have a personalized experience on the platform. This platform facilitates matching of students with similar interests and skill sets. The adaptive platform first offers easy questions to the students and then gradually connects them to the advanced users who can help them increase their knowledge and progress in that subject.

Smart and customized content

Artificial Intelligence is now making it possible to create content for students which is easy to absorb and learn. Textbooks can now be created according to individual student’s needs and course of study. Content Technologies Inc (CTI) is one such company which is working to create AI that can generate customized content for the students by analyzing the existing study material, syllabus, and textbooks.

With the help of the tools developed by the CTI, teachers can create chapter summaries, practice tests, flashcards and study guides for the students. Imagine how advantageous it is to have access to a content that has already been simplified according to your understanding level and requirements.

The Use of Teaching Assistants

Schools are already using AI technology through Chatbots that act as assistants and take up the students’ queries. Chatbots are messaging platforms that a generally used by educators to engage the students in the educational processes. Similarly, advanced teaching assistants can be used to bridge the knowledge gap between the learners.

One such teaching assistant was built by Ashok Goel in 2015. It is a knowledge-based AI system designed to answer frequently asked questions of the students. Such an invention is not only productive for the students but can also reduce a lot of burden on the teachers. Teaching assistants can also be used to perform other monotonous tasks of the teachers such as grading, providing feedback and record keeping allowing teachers to focus more on adding value in their course contents.

In the end, the main aim of AI is not to replace humans but enhance their skills and value. The role of artificial intelligence in the education sector is becoming crucial day-by-day and, thus, the role of teachers is also strengthening with that. Teaching is not only about passing knowledge. It is and it will be more of a social interaction among the teachers and the students. Artificial Intelligence cannot in anyway reduce the value of a teacher in the classrooms.
