Funding and Acquisitions Roundup: Scoot and Doodle raises $2.25M for its G+ Hangouts app; PlayCez lands Seed funding for its events app for India

Today’s early-stage startup funding and acquisitions news:

Social

Google+ app for student collaboration Scoot & Doodle has raised a $2.25 million Seed round. The San Francisco-based company claims that its app is the most popular ‘premier’ app within Google+ Hangouts. Link to the press release.

Mobile

Delhi-based PlayCez has secured an undisclosed Seed round for its soon-to-launch events discovery app for India. The startup is a graduate of India’s Global Superangels Forum (GSF) mentorship program. More about the funding from TechCrunch.

Enterprise

Bloomfire, which offers businesses a platform for more efficient knowledge and information management, has closed an $8 million Series A round from existing investors that include Austin Ventures and Redpoint Ventures. The Austin-based company was founded in 2010 and has now raised a total of $18 million in outside funding. Link to the company press release about the funding.

Advertising/Marketing

Despite all the griping among media and analysts in particular about online ads, money keeps flowing to the sector. The latest is Adcade, which announced today the closing of a $1.5 million Seed funding round. The New York-based  startup specializes on HTML5 mobile ads. Finance/Investment

In an effort to compete with other burgeoning tech hubs, the state of Colorado (yes, the state government) and local business leaders have started a VC fund to give the state’s startups a boost. Read more about the new fund (via VentureBeat).
