Overview of Company:
Smoke Reports is a small team in San Francisco working hard to improve the relationship between human beings and cannabis through education, outreach, and technology.
Starting in 2008 as a project to trace cannabis strain genetics to their countries of origin, we now offer a complete platform for consumers and businesses to learn about, and engage with, the cannabis community.
We are a platform that connects consumers and businesses to a complex and connected database of over 13,000 strains, extracts, edibles, and products along with hundreds of companies that provide them for you.
The Product for Consumers:
Consumers can explore, review, learn, and connect in a secure environment without being tracked or being advertised at. Utilizing our genetics database, we’ve also created a recommendation engine to allow them to find new strains to try based on the feelings they’re looking for.
The Product for Businesses:
Companies get tools to manage their product that translate into a beautiful and responsive website, and menu listings with control over their information. They can tie consumer-facing lab tests to QR codes for product labelling, get access to market data about their products, and more. These are tools built from the ground up for and with the industry instead of repackaging and re-purposing existing software from other industries.
Additionally, we’ve created an API other businesses are building with that allows our customers to get their data out to use on their own websites or in their own applications.
Pain We Are Solving:
Right now, cannabis product, strain, and company data is disconnected. Some of the largest companies with cannabis menus allow for retailers to be able to enter whatever information they like, often with incorrect information about the brands they are carrying.
Additionally, these larger companies are advertising products, geared towards ensuring consumers are viewing the brands that are paying for the most clicks. We provide an equal playing field with the ability for consumers to explore and find their own favorites.
To track and serve the massive database, we’ve created a Universal Cannabis Product Code (UCPC) that allows for identification of genetics, strain, company, product, and batch, through a single identifier.
This solves an additional pain point currently facing governmental legislative efforts in the cannabis industry when it comes to identification for consumer protection for things like recalls, or accurate medical content/information.
